Tales of an FM addict: Burnley career mode part 2: Manager of the month and Promotion Places

Back into the deep end of the managerial life and we are coming back off a month which provided mixed results. We started off well with the 3-1 win over Leeds to then lose 2-0 to Burton Albion. At the end of the month we sat in 6th place, one point separating us from the top of the table. With the league season starting to kick into gear, it is imperative for us to have a good September. Only thing I am majorly concerned with at the minute is that I only have two recognised centre midfielders at my disposal.

Game 1- Sheffield Wednesday (H)

As mentioned at the end of the last piece, we play a very good Sheffield Wednesday side who more than capable of challenging us for those promotion spots. This game marks the first after the international break. Matthew Lowton makes his debut for the club after a spell on the sidelines with injury. Before the game I called them in for a meeting and told them that we can achieve promotion and the lads are buzzing!
Lineup: Heaton, Lowton, Tarkowski, Keane, Mee, Kightly, Barton, Carroll, Boyd, Hennings, Gray

.

25 shots and 1 goal scored. Sheffield Wednesday I love you. All jokes aside, we were just clinical and it looks like the team meeting worked. Also Will Keane is finally off the mark for the club.

Game 2 - Mk Dons (H)

It's a Tuesday night game against MK Dons which the clarets have to deal with next. Currently we are sat in 3rd place on goal difference and one point off the top so we have every chance of being top by the end of tonight. There will be three changes to the squad, Will Keane for Hennings, Ilori for Tarkowski and Arfield for Boyd. UP THE CLARETS!

Although I am disappointed with drawing to MK Dons, with the highlights we had we are slowly starting to get the majority of play in games. Kightly scored a very good goal and we still sit 3rd in the league as we face 6th place Derby County next.

Game 3- Derby County (A)

Another big test as we face Derby County who arguably have one of the best squads in the league but for some reason still haven't cracked it in the last few years. We still have a chance to go top of the league but I want the strikers to net a couple here.

Very happy with that, very happy indeed. I think that is the first time we been on top in the possession stats and with that win it moves us up to 2nd. The next game is 6th place Reading at home and if we win that we could go top. Also happy to see Gray and Hennings bag two.

Game 4 -Reading (H)

After the huge win at Derby we reach the last game of September which is Reading at home. We have a chance here to go top of the league if Brighton mess up but to be 2nd at this stage is promising indeed. I make one change to the side that beat Derby and that is that Darikwa comes back in. At half time I will be bringing on Will Keane and possibly Sam Vokes (who is back from injury).

Two clean sheets in a row and Andre Gray has scored again this month. He is on form at the minute and compared to last month, he must be on steroids or something as he has scored 4 in his last 4. That win takes us to the top of the league for the time being until Brighton play.

Game 5- Rotherham (A)

So we end today with Rotherham away and we look to end today unbeaten and in those promotion spots. Rotherham are bottom of the table so it should be easy pickings if my players turn up. Team is unchanged.

Simply put we bottled it. Bottled it against a team whose most famous supporters are the chuckle brothers. Kightly once again performing well and overall this season, so far he has been my most consistent performer. We are still top but we have to hope Brighton lose or Draw. Whatever happens, we are in the top two for today.

That's it for today, tomorrow is going to be so important for our season. Not only do we take on Bolton but we also take on the Venky's.

Oh yeah and I won manager of the month.....
